Nepal Attends ICAPP’s Special Conference on the Silk Road in China

A delegation of the three major political parties in Nepal participated in the special conference on the Silk Road of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the 25th meeting of the ICAPP Standing Committee, held in Beijing, China from October 14 to 16.

At the conference hosted by the Communist Party of China, delegates from more than 60 political parties and other organisations from 32 countries attended the ICAPP’s special conference and expressed their support and goodwill to the goals and vision of China’s One Belt and One Road initiative.

They stressed the principles of closer ties, win-win co-operation and mutual benefit towards the goal of sustainable development for all countries.

Participants also called for respect for the principles of the UN Charter and countries’ sovereignty, ensuring a peaceful and stable environment in the process of building and implementing co-operative initiatives.

The conference adopted a joint statement stressing political parties’ commitment to promoting dialogue and co-operation for the people’s interests and common prosperity and friendship.

The meeting reiterated to push forward with the ICAPP’s key objectives, strengthening ties with partners in Africa and Latin America and expanding relations with key political parties in Europe.

The Nepalese delegation also held bilateral meetings with officials from the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee’s International Liaison Department and many other political parties of different countries.
