Hon. Sujata Koirala returned from 26th ICAPP Standing Committee held in Jakarta from 22-24 April 2016

Leader of Nepali Congress Party, CWC Member & former DPM/FM Hon. Sujata Koirala returned from 26th ICAPP Standing Committee held in Jakarta from 22-24 April 2016. ICAPP is the umbrella organization of 56 Asian countries over 360 different political parties as its active members. Leader Hon. Sujata Koirala is Member of the Standing Committee of ICAPP and also the Chairperson of the Women’s Wing of ICAPP. NC Leader Hon. Koirala while speaking at the meeting expressed - “Political parties constitute an integral part of democratic system of governance. Political parties are an indispensible link between people and the representative machinery of government, no democratic system can be envisaged without the role of political parties in advancing the political process, linking the people and governance on a daily basis”.

 

ICAPP Standing Committee discussed about the preparation of 9th General Assembly of ICAPP to be held in Kuala Lumpur in September 1-4, 2016 and discussion was also held for about preparation for 1st Trilateral Meeting among the ICAPP Standing Committee, the COPPPAL Coordinating Body (Latin American and Caribbean Political Parties) and the CAPP(African Association of Political Parties) Executive Committee. The meeting also focused on holding 1st Joint Session of Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) as decided in Islamabad during the Special Conference in March 2016 to explore ways to promote cooperation and coordination between two organizations in the future. ICAPP Standing Committee also proposed the 1st Meeting of Asia-Europe Political forum, ICAPP Special Conference on Migration with special focus on Refugee Issue, meeting of ICAPP Youth Wing, 4th meeting of ICAPP Women’s Wing and 2nd meeting of ICAPP Media Forum.

 

26th ICAPP Standing Committee Meeting and 1st Trilateral Meeting among the ICAPP Standing Committee, the COPPPAL and CAPP Executive Committee was ended with Jakarta Declaration, the meeting  was attended by leaders from various political including China, India, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iran, Republic of Lebanon, Mongolia, Malaysia,Philippines, Russia Federation, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey and Vietnam. The ICAPP SC Meeting was held in the Parliament House of Republic of Indonesia.
