Mr. Ai Ping, Vice Minister, International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and expert on South Asian affairs has arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday 17th December 2013 leading 15 member high level delegation to Nepal on a four day visit. It is the third high-level delegation from the northern neighbour after the November 19 CA election.
In honor of His Excellency Ai Ping and his visiting delegation, NC’s International Relations Department chief and former DPM/FM Sujata Koirala hosted a dinner at Hotel Shangrila on 19th December.
The dinner program was attended by Nepali Congress (NC) President Mr. Sushil Koirala, Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, former Prime Ministers and former Ministers. Newly elected CA/Parliament members, head and representatives of the different political parties, civil societies, Chief of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and senior government officials were present on the occasion. Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China, His Excellency Mr. Wu Chuntai and officials of the Chinese Embassy were also present at the function.
Addressing the invitees on her brief speech, Sujata Koirala reiterated the long and cordial relationship maintained between NC and CPC. She also expressed that Nepal enjoys close and friendly ties with China and highly value Chinese support to Nepal. She further added that Nepali people are happy to see China making tremendous progresses in various spheres. She extended her best wishes for the continued peace, progress, and prosperity of China and the Chinese people.
Speaking at the program, vice-minister of the International Department of CPC, HE Ai Ping, said that China wants to work with neighboring countries in the areas of common interests and the promotion of an environment conducive to its own development. He also stressed that China wants to see Nepal politically stable and economically developed. He further added that China will continue to help Nepal in the future also.
