Leader of Nepali Congress Sujata Koirala has concluded that the Constitution will only be issued through the hands of Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. She opined that if the Constitution is not issued by Prime Minister Sushil Koirala then there will be no one else who will issue the Constitution.
Leader Koirala was visiting Siraha on the Memorial Day of Girija Prasad Koirala and in a press meet in Lahan she said, “There should be a consensus of give and take between the Maoist, Madhesi and the government for issuing the Constitution.” She mentioned that the Constitution can be issued immediately if the Maoist and the Madhesi parties are flexible and added that other issues except the issue of federalism can be decided by the CA. She said that the issues in conflict cannot be solved by holding the Constitution Assembly in detention and requested the Maoist and the Madhesi parties to avoid the streets and look for solutions through dialogue.
“If the conflicting leaders do not show any maturity by being flexible, we will give the Constitution to the people anyhow,” she said, if there is no flexibility, the Constitution will be issued through majority process. Koirala claimed that there will be no people’s participation in the movement started by Maoists and Madhesi parties. She said, “A movement without the people’s desire will not last for long”. She opined that the present need is to exercise for consensus rather than spending power and energy for a useless movement.
